Please join South Newfane Community Association and Bard Owl for a special fundraising concert & raptor food drive for Fred Homer’s raptor rescue on Saturday, May 24 at 5:00 pm.
Our neighbor Fred Homer has been certified to rescue raptors for 40 years – rehabbing hawks with broken wings, feeding fledglings separated from their flocks, caring for a beautiful blind-in-one eye barred owl named Stella. Regional and national bird rescues transfer birds to Fred to carry across the finish line and re-release back in tot he wild. All of this time, he’s been financing his own operations, and now he’s paying up to $0.80 per mouse to nourish the birds, and it adds up fast.
Local crooners aptly named Bard Owl will perform a benefit concert for a suggested donation of $10 per person to be donated directly to Fred to help support his raptor rescue. This is also a raptor food drive. Please bring your captured, NON-POISONED, frozen rodents to the show where we will have a cooler waiting.
To learn more about Fred’s backstory, we recommend reading this recent story in the Brattleboro Reformer.
